Sending Kids to the Youth Conservation and Trout Camp:
AATU Scholarships
AATU’s core mission is to promote the conservation and restoration of cold-water fisheries. An important part of that mission is to enlist and educate the next generation of Michigan conservationists. The Michigan Trout Unlimited Youth Conservation and Trout Camp is an exceptional program for doing that. Every year the camp brings teenagers from around Michigan to the banks of the Au Sable to learn about and participate in stream conservation projects and have fun learning to fish.

Ben Munson is a case in point. Ben received a scholarship from our chapter to attend the camp in 2024, and he has written a letter about his experience. See below for a wonderful video about the program.
As Ben’s letter points out, we are trying to raise money so that other kids can attend Trout Camp, not only from our area but from places in Michigan where kids don’t have good opportunities to experience the outdoors and learn about nature. We are looking to local merchants, professional offices, and interested individuals to provide some of that funding. If you or your business are interested in supporting the program, please click below. You can also make donations by cash or check by reaching out to AATU Fundraising Chair Rick Hall ([email protected]) or call/text him (734-730-5404).

All donors will be recognized at AATU’s monthly meetings, in our newsletter, and on our Facebook page. And if you like, we will happily give you or your kids a free fly-fishing lesson from one of our experts!
Make sure to leave a note on PayPal indicating your donation is for the Youth Trout Camp
